Brazil jungle Lodge

Tips on choosing a Brazil jungle lodge

As you will have gathered, the types of brasil jungle lodges and adventure tours on offer are wide and varied. This does not however mean that all jungle lodges or eco resorts in Brazil will be of the same standard. Here are a few tips on how to go about choosing an eco resort or adventure tour lodge.

  • A good starting point is to visit as many lodge websites as you can, to view lodge and tour descriptions. You will also find a good selection of photographs of amenities, facilities and other essentials such as restaurants, accommodations and whether or not they have a swimming pool or other safe, natural swimming resources. Compare their comfort levels

  • Ecolodges and eco resorts in Brazil will mean very different things to different people. Depending on how eco-friendly you want your adventure tour operators to be, a check of their website should tell you this, as well as letting you know just how involved they are in relation to sustaining and preserving the environment

  • Make a point of checking that your guides and eco resort staff are bilingual. This will ensure you get the very most out of guided tours through mutual communication. If in doubt, contact the adventure package tour operator or website to enquire

  • Consider each Brasil jungle lodge tour in turn and compare the different activities included in a particular tour, as well as the range of additional tour options you can choose from

  • If mosquitoes are something you are dreading, then stick to Brasil jungle lodge tours that are on or around the Negro River. The Tannic acid in the river water, prevents mosquitoes from breeding

  • Tips on what to take on a Brazil jungle lodge tour

If you are not used to travelling light, be prepared to leave some of your luxuries behind. A radio for example, may not be allowed, however you won't need to part with your walkman.

Be prepared also for short notice cancellations either for transfers or excursions, which can be subject to adverse weather conditions. Do ensure that you have a good supply with you of any essentials such as prescribed medications, just in case.

Below, is a list of some other provisions you might want to take along with you. It is a good idea to draw up your own checklist, prior to your Brazil jungle lodge adventure tour:

  • Good quality hiking boots
  • Insect repellent
  • A good high factor sun screen and after sun moisturiser
  • Longsleeve tops or shirts
  • T-shirt
  • Warm, light cardigans for the evenings
  • Trousers and shorts
  • Lots of light socks
  • A flashlight
  • Prescribed medication/other non-prescription ones
  • Swimwear

  • Cigarettes if you smoke

  • A spirit for adventure
